I read the newspaper, and I watch TV.
The more I read, or watch, the more confused I get. So, who is really to blame for global warming? Who is to blame for the pine beetle epidemic that has almost wiped out our pine forests? Who is going to be responsible for the demise of our planet?
We’re being told it is the different political parties that are to blame, and they, and their supporters, are all pointing fingers at each other, like a bunch of kids after getting into the cookies their mother baked for company, saying everyone else is responsible for the damage done. The environmentalists, who are turning global warming into a billion dollar business, are placing the blame on global warming. They say that the global warming is caused by our industries.
Everyone on this planet, who has access to mass media, are pointing their fingers to blame everyone else.
Every since creation, or evolution (something else no one seems to agree on) of the human race, it has been striving to improve quality of life, and in the process, it has been (according to some so-called experts) trying to destroy the planet that we live on. They say that the rapid advancements in technology have created our huge appetite for fossil fuels. This, in itself, seems to be a little counterproductive. How can you improve the quality of life without technology? It’s like the doctor giving you a pill to extend your life, but the warning on label tells you it could create suicidal tendencies.
Everybody seems to discount one of the sources of our successes, and problems, and she is the person to blame for everything since the big bang. She is to blame for all the global warmings, and all the ice ages. She is to blame for the evolution, and demise, of numerous animal and insect species. She is to blame for our pine forests, the beetles that are killing them, and the fires that burn them so they can grow back stronger. For lack of better words, I’ll call ‘her’ Mother Nature.
We, mere mortals, love to pound our chests and take the credit for all of our accomplishments, but blame other mortals for our failures.
We take credit for oil that fueled our generation, and according to some, is contributing to the world’s demise. But, it was Mother Nature who created the oil, and left it laying around for us to find, like a kid finding a stick of dynamite. If some of the ‘Intelligent Animals’ are right, one day our sun will implode, and our earth will disappear. I have no idea when, but when it does, I’m sure that everyone will be pointing their fingers to blame everyone else, saying, “It’s their fault”, when maybe, it was just the way things happen.
